The Library's 'Golden Book' winners announced

Every year, The Library celebrates its anniversary by giving out its "Golden Book" awards to deserving shows and entertainers, the highlight of which is the Entertainer of the Year award.

Past recipients of the Entertainer of the Year award include Arnell Ignacio, Allan K, Hans Mortel, Martin Mijares, Arnel Tamayo, Phillip Lazaro and Rey Kilay now recognised names in the mainstream entertainment. This Year, The Library's regular customers and staff (and Library owner Andrew de Real) have voted Anton, star of the hit shows "Anton Reigns" and "Anton Rules," as the choice for this year's Entertainer of the Year award.

The awards were handed out last Saturday, June 23, the culminating night of The Library's week-long 17th anniversary celebration entitled "At 17."

Aside from Anton, the other entertainers who received individual awards were Sammy (the Bagong Sibol award), Sheryl Kao (Tinig Award), Rey Kilay (named Best Dressed Performer for the forth time in a row, which elevates him to the Hall of Fame), Terry and Paula (who received the trophy for Best Single Performance by an Artist's in a Library production for their scene-stealing acts in "Raging Divas") and Martin Mijares, winner of the Best Single Performance by an Artist in an Outside Production for his appearance in the Allan K show, "K na K Ka Na Ba?"

"Room 69," a one-act play on gay relationships written and directed by Andrew himself (and co-starring upcoming actor Danny Ramos), was names Show of the Year. The play was one of the featured shows for the 17th anniversary celebration of The Library.

Meanwhile, the comic quartet Quatro Quantos was named Best Group while the Best Showcase was given to Ruffa for the sketch "Mother Dearest."
